Fungal Rebirth card art
Fungal Rebirth returns any permanent from your graveyard and drops two Saproling tokens on top of that — three bodies of value for two mana, conditional only on a creature dying that turn. In Slimefoot, the Stowaway and any token-dense shell, that condition is a formality, making this one of the most efficient recursion spells in green.

01
Slimefoot, the Stowaway

Slimefoot, the Stowaway

62.8% of decks · synergy 0.61

Slimefoot, the Stowaway pings opponents and gains you life every time a Saproling dies, so Fungal Rebirth isn't just recursion — it's two fresh triggers stapled to a permanent you already wanted back.

02
Shroofus Sproutsire

Shroofus Sproutsire

53.5% of decks · synergy 0.51

Shroofus Sproutsire cares deeply about flooding the board with fungus and Saproling tokens, and Fungal Rebirth delivers two of them while recovering a key permanent that ate a removal spell.

03
The Mycotyrant

The Mycotyrant

24.8% of decks · synergy 0.23

The Mycotyrant scales on the number of creatures you've put into the graveyard from anywhere, so Fungal Rebirth does double duty: it pads that count while returning a permanent and adding two more bodies to the board.

04
Slimefoot and Squee

Slimefoot and Squee

23.7% of decks · synergy 0.23

Slimefoot and Squee wants a constant stream of fodder entering and dying, and Fungal Rebirth refuels that loop by converting one dead creature into two new Saprolings plus whatever permanent you reclaim.

05
Ghave, Guru of Spores

Ghave, Guru of Spores

17.0% of decks · synergy 0.16

Ghave, Guru of Spores can immediately consume the two Saproling tokens Fungal Rebirth produces to fuel counter manipulation, turning a recursion spell into a mana-positive combo enabler.

Fungal Rebirth is a Commander card first and almost exclusively. The two-Saproling rider is near-worthless in competitive Constructed formats where token generators need to close games, not pad graveyards, and the conditional trigger — a creature having died that turn — is far less reliable in one-on-one play where opponents have fewer reasons to attack into blockers. In Modern and Pioneer it's strictly outclassed by cheaper or unconditional recursion. Commander is where the condition becomes trivially met and the token output compounds with aristocrats payoffs, making Fungal Rebirth a genuine staple in the right shells rather than a fringe inclusion.

Price Context

Current price

$0.32 bulk tier

At $0.32, Fungal Rebirth sits firmly in bulk territory, which is frankly an overperformance for a card this good in its niche. Bulk rares with real synergy homes tend to hold this floor indefinitely — there's no pressure pushing it higher, but little reason to expect it drops further either.
