Fugue strips three cards from an opponent's hand for four mana — a steep but decisive blow to any player still holding resources. It's a role-player in dedicated discard strategies, but the sorcery speed and single-target scope keep it off most lists.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| pioneer | not legal |

| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Fugue has any real home, and even there it needs the right shell — a dedicated discard deck that taxes multiple opponents over several turns, not a goodstuff pile looking for incidental hand disruption. In Legacy and Vintage, three-mana targeted discard like Hymn to Tourach does similar work for half the cost, and four-mana sorceries that only affect one opponent don't clear the bar in those formats. Oathbreaker can make Fugue passable if the planeswalker and signature spell already point at hand control, but the two-player dynamic shrinks the political cover that makes discard tolerable in multiplayer. The short version: Fugue belongs in Commander, narrowly, and nowhere else.

Price Context
Current price
$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Fugue is deep bulk — the price of a sleeve, not a decision. It won't appreciate; discard spells at this power level have no constructed demand to drive price up, and supply is plentiful.
