Frost Titan card art
Frost Titan lands and immediately locks down a permanent, then dares your opponents to spend two mana just to target it — that tax is the whole point. At six mana in Commander, you need more than a 6/6 with a soft protection clause, and most powered tables have answers that don't care about the surcharge. Aegar, the Freezing Flame changes the math: every triggered tap becomes free card draw, and suddenly Frost Titan is pulling its weight.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Aegar, the Freezing Flame

Aegar, the Freezing Flame

46.9% of decks · synergy 0.46

Frost Titan's tap triggers deal excess damage to Giants through Aegar, the Freezing Flame, converting each freeze into a draw — the two cards were made for each other, which is why nearly half of all Aegar decks run it.

02
Hylda of the Icy Crown

Hylda of the Icy Crown

31.8% of decks · synergy 0.30

Hylda of the Icy Crown rewards you every time an opponent's permanent becomes tapped, and Frost Titan delivers that trigger on arrival and again on each attack, fueling Hylda's token and +1/+1 counter payoffs at a reliable clip.

03
Ruhan of the Fomori

Ruhan of the Fomori

17.6% of decks · synergy 0.17

Ruhan of the Fomori wants to end games fast, and Frost Titan slots in as a threat that neutralizes the most dangerous blocker or utility permanent while being genuinely hard to race off the board.

Commander is where Frost Titan sees real play, and only in specific decks — the tap synergy commanders make it legitimate, while generic blue goodstuff lists have long since moved on to more efficient six-drops. In Legacy and Vintage it's essentially unplayed; six mana is an eternity in those formats and the effect doesn't come close to justifying the cost. Modern has the same problem: the format's threats at six mana end games outright, and a 6/6 that taps one thing doesn't clear that bar. Frost Titan is a Commander card, narrowly, and its best homes are the ones listed above.

Price Context

Current price

$0.39 bulk tier

At $0.39, Frost Titan is deep bulk — multiple printings have driven the price to the floor, and there's no competitive demand to push it back up. It's a near-free pickup if you're building Aegar, the Freezing Flame or Hylda of the Icy Crown, and there's no reason to pay more than a quarter for a copy.
