Frost Raptor card art
Frost Raptor is a 2/3 flying creature with flying that taps to surveil 1 whenever a snow permanent enters the battlefield under your control — a repeatable filtering engine dressed up as a beatstick. Outside of dedicated snow builds helmed by something like Isu the Abominable, it does almost nothing, but inside one it earns its slot immediately.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Isu the Abominable

Isu the Abominable

21.8% of decks · synergy 0.22

Isu the Abominable rewards stacking snow permanents, and Frost Raptor converts every one of those triggers into a surveil — which feeds the graveyard, smooths draws, and keeps the engine consistent across a long game.

02

Jorn, God of Winter

11.1% of decks · synergy 0.11

Jorn, God of Winter untaps snow permanents during combat, and Frost Raptor's tap ability means each combat step can become additional card selection on top of whatever mana advantage Jorn is generating.

FormatVerdict

oathbreaker

Frost Raptor is a niche card in every format it's legal in — Pauper is probably its highest-ceiling non-Commander home, where snow synergies are more concentrated and a 2/3 flier with upside is a real threat. In Legacy and Vintage it's simply outclassed; the card's power level doesn't register at those tables. Commander is where Frost Raptor actually gets played, and only in snow-tribal decks where the surveil trigger fires repeatedly rather than once or twice a game.

Price Context

Current price

$0.17 bulk tier

At $0.17, Frost Raptor is deep bulk — grab a copy without thinking about it. It's too narrow to move off bulk pricing regardless of snow's popularity, so there's no meaningful upside to holding copies.
