Forge Armor moves all counters from a sacrificed artifact onto a target creature — that's a potentially massive stat swing for a single mana at instant speed. The payoff scales entirely with what you're sacrificing, which makes it a staple in artifact-counter decks and a blank in everything else.

Commander is where Forge Armor earns its slot, specifically in decks that load counters onto artifacts — Modular synergies, charge-counter engines, or Ichor Wellspring-style sacrifice loops all give it a legitimate target. Outside of curated artifact builds, it's too conditional to pull consistent weight. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage it's technically legal but has never found a home; the combination of artifact dependency and sorcery-level timing restrictions on the counters you're moving keeps it off competitive radar. Forge Armor is a one-deck card in competitive formats and a one-archetype card in Commander.

Price Context
Current price
$0.15 bulk tier
At $0.15, Forge Armor is deep bulk — pick it up in any common box without a second thought. The price reflects its narrow application; it won't appreciate, but if your deck wants it, the cost of entry is essentially zero.
