Flying Carpet card art
Flying Carpet costs four mana to play and two mana per activation to grant a creature flying until end of turn — that's a steep, recurring tax for a keyword any blue spell gives cheaper and permanently. It's a bulk artifact for a reason.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

Flying Carpet sees essentially no competitive play in any format where it's legal. In Commander, four mana for the equipment plus two to activate each turn is too slow and too expensive when blue has counterspells and white has enchantments that grant flying outright. Legacy and Vintage have access to every efficient alternative ever printed, so Flying Carpet never makes the cut. Pauper is the one format where options are narrower, but even there, a two-mana-per-swing activation on a four-mana artifact competes poorly against commons that just grant flying directly.

Price Context

Current price

$0.30 bulk tier

At $0.30, Flying Carpet sits firmly in bulk territory, and there's no pressure pushing that price up — demand is low and copies are plentiful. It holds its $0.30 floor on novelty and Reserved List status alone, not on gameplay merit.
