Flockchaser Phantom card art
Flockchaser Phantom enters as a 1/1 flier and grows every time you cast a spell, making it a persistent aerial threat that compounds quickly in spell-heavy builds. Kasla, the Broken Halo decks run it in over 83% of lists because the engine nearly writes itself — cast spells, swing with a larger and larger phantom.

Flockchaser Phantom is a Commander card through and through — the incremental counter payoff needs time and a critical mass of spells to matter, and a 101-card singleton environment where games go long provides exactly that. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but irrelevant; a 1/1 flier for two that needs setup is far below the power floor those formats demand. Commander is the only place Flockchaser Phantom converts its design into real board presence, especially in Azorius or multicolor spellslinger decks that can reliably trigger it multiple times per turn.

Price Context

Current price

$0.28 bulk tier

At $0.28, Flockchaser Phantom sits firmly in bulk territory — the kind of card you pick up as an afterthought in a trade binder or a bundle purchase. Bulk commons and uncommons at this price point rarely appreciate unless a breakout commander drives sudden demand, and Kasla, the Broken Halo is the only realistic candidate here.
