Fleetfeather Cockatrice

In Commander, Fleetfeather Cockatrice occupies the awkward middle ground of being individually powerful but not impactful enough at five mana in a 40-life format where threats scale much higher. The deathtouch-plus-flying combination is genuinely threatening on defense and punishes token swarms in the air, but you're competing against creatures that do far more for the same cost. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it sees no meaningful play — the rate is simply outclassed by format staples, and five mana is a near-death sentence in those environments. Fleetfeather Cockatrice finds its best home in lower-power Commander pods or as a role-player in dedicated deathtouch-synergy builds where the keyword does mechanical work beyond just combat.
