Flaying Tendrils sweeps the board of small creatures and permanently exiles them, cutting off graveyard recursion in the same motion. Two mana for a -2/-2 wrath effect that blanks Reassembling Skeleton loops and persist triggers is a clean deal — the ceiling is high against token and weenie strategies.

In Commander, Flaying Tendrils fills a specific niche: it answers token floods and incidental small creatures while denying the graveyard value that makes those creatures worth killing twice. The exile clause does real work against popular recursion commanders. In Modern and Pioneer, it's a sideboard option against aggressive one- and two-toughness strategies, though it competes with Anger of the Gods in Modern — that card hits harder and also exiles, making Flaying Tendrils the second choice unless you need the lower floor on damage to protect your own creatures. Legacy and Vintage have faster, more efficient options, so it rarely sees play there.

Price data isn't available at the moment, but Flaying Tendrils is a bulk rare by any recent measure — pick it up for under a dollar without hesitation if the effect fits your Commander list. It sees minimal competitive play outside the occasional sideboard slot, so supply is consistent and there's no pressure to buy in immediately.
