Flameblade Angel card art
Flameblade Angel turns every source of damage your opponents deal to you into a 1/1 flier — the board impact is immediate and scales with how aggressive the table is. Six mana is a real ask, but in a damage-heavy meta it pays for itself within a turn cycle.

Flameblade Angel is a Commander card through and through — six mana is simply too slow for Modern, Pioneer, or Legacy, where games end before a 3/5 flier with a conditional triggered ability becomes relevant. In Commander, the multiplayer damage economy does the work for you: three opponents attacking, using burn, and paying life generates triggers at a rate no 1v1 format can match. The angel fits best in Boros or Mardu builds that want to weather aggression and convert it into board presence, particularly alongside damage-doublers or lifelink synergies. Outside Commander, it's a bulk rare collecting dust.

Price data for Flameblade Angel isn't available in current sources, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for a live number. Given its narrow Commander application and zero competitive presence elsewhere, expect it to sit in bulk-rare territory — typically under a dollar — making it an easy pickup if the synergy fits your build.
