Firescreamer is a Pauper-legal common, and that's the only format where it earns serious consideration — discard-matters and sacrifice strategies at common rarity have enough support to make the menace body and pump ability relevant. In Commander, Firescreamer competes with a much deeper card pool; black discard synergy decks can find better payoffs at every point on the curve, so it rarely makes the cut outside of precon-level or strictly budget lists. Legacy and Vintage are legal but purely academic — the card has no business being in either format. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander: the 99-card singleton environment raises the bar too high for a three-mana 2/3 with no immediate impact.
