Firemind's Foresight card art
Firemind's Foresight tutors three instants at once — one each of CMC 1, 2, and 3 — assembling a full combo package in a single cast. The base cost is seven mana, which is steep, but Mizzix of the Izmagnus can reduce it to two or three, at which point it's one of the most efficient tutor chains in the format.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Mizzix of the Izmagnus

Mizzix of the Izmagnus

43.2% of decks · synergy 0.41

Mizzix of the Izmagnus cuts the cost of Firemind's Foresight dramatically with experience counters, often making it castable for two or three mana — at that price, fetching a full win package of instants in one shot is nearly unbeatable value.

02
Vadrik, Astral Archmage

Vadrik, Astral Archmage

34.2% of decks · synergy 0.32

Vadrik, Astral Archmage discounts instants and sorceries based on power, which means Firemind's Foresight can drop to near-zero mana on a sufficiently pumped Vadrik, turning a late-game cast into an instant combo assembly.

03
Lilah, Undefeated Slickshot

Lilah, Undefeated Slickshot

19.9% of decks · synergy 0.18

Lilah, Undefeated Slickshot rewards casting multiple instants per turn, and Firemind's Foresight sets up exactly that by stacking three instants into hand simultaneously, making the following turn a fully loaded Lilah trigger engine.

Format Analysis

Commander is where Firemind's Foresight actually lives — the singleton format rewards tutors that fetch multiple specific pieces at once, and a seven-mana spell that grabs an entire three-card combo line is a reasonable late-game play even at full price. In spell-cost-reduction shells it becomes busted, which is why its EDHREC numbers are driven almost entirely by Izzet spellslinger commanders. In Legacy and Vintage, seven mana is a non-starter; cheaper, more flexible tutors make Firemind's Foresight irrelevant in those formats. Modern and Pioneer are similarly hostile — the curve is too high and the payoff too narrow compared to what those formats offer. Stick to Commander, specifically any deck that already wants to chain instants.

Price Context

Current price

$0.22 bulk tier

At $0.22, Firemind's Foresight is bulk — you're paying essentially nothing for a card that does real work in the right shells. Bulk rares with narrow applications tend to stay cheap, so don't expect the price to move.
