Final Flare trades a creature you control for instant-speed removal of any target — damage dealt by the sacrificed creature plus five, which usually kills whatever you're pointing it at. The cost is real, but the range and speed make it a legitimate role-player in sacrifice-matters shells.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Final Flare earns its slot in decks that want to double-dip on sacrifice — you're already killing a creature for value, so the removal comes nearly free. Pauper is where Final Flare sees the most competitive pressure, offering instant-speed reach and removal in a format starved of clean answers at common. In Modern and Pioneer the card is legal but outclassed; dedicated sacrifice builds have better payoffs and removal is too efficient to trade a creature for five-plus damage. Legacy and Vintage ignore it entirely — the bar for interaction is too high. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander in that sacrifice synergy is the only reason to run it.

$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Final Flare is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not card value. Bulk commons don't appreciate, so grab a copy if the deck calls for it and don't think twice about the price.
