Fields of Strife card art
Fields of Strife taxes every non-land permanent your opponents control, turning a board of creatures and rocks into a resource drain the longer the game runs. The cost is a legendary enchantment slot and five mana to land it — steep enough that it belongs only in decks built to exploit the pressure, not as generic disruption.

Quintorius, History Chaser triggers off historic spells and permanents, and Fields of Strife is a legendary enchantment that hits both axes — it fuels Quintorius's engine while starving opponents of the mana they need to answer it.

In Commander, Fields of Strife is a political weapon that scales with board state — the more permanents at the table, the harder it punches, and three opponents means the pressure compounds fast. Outside Commander, the tax is too narrow and too slow; in Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy, opponents can sequence around it or simply win before it matters. Pauper is the one exception where tax effects occasionally see fringe play, but Fields of Strife's legendary type and five-mana cost keep it benched there too. Treat it as a Commander-only card in practice, regardless of its broad legality.

Price Context

Current price

$0.18 bulk tier

At $0.18, Fields of Strife sits squarely in bulk territory — easy to acquire, easy to trade for, and not a financial risk. Bulk legendary enchantments rarely spike unless a commander breaks them wide open, so don't expect movement.
