Fey Steed card art
Fey Steed enters as a 3/3 that gives a creature of your choice protection from everything until end of turn — offensive and defensive utility stapled onto a relevant body. Five mana for that package is fair, not spectacular, but the floor is a creature that protects your best threat the turn it matters most.

In Commander, Fey Steed earns its slot in go-wide creature strategies and voltron builds that need to punch through blockers or shield a key attacker from a blowout block — the triggered ability on attack means you're getting the protection effect repeatedly, not just once. Legacy and Vintage have access to Fey Steed but the five-mana ask and the creature type will never be competitive priorities in those formats. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander at a smaller table, where protecting your planeswalker or a key attacker once per swing is more impactful in shorter games.

Price Context

Current price

$0.25 bulk tier

At $0.25, Fey Steed is firmly bulk — you're not making a financial decision here, you're making a deck decision. Bulk rares at this price point rarely appreciate unless they land in a breakout competitive deck, and that's not the trajectory for Fey Steed.
