Feast of Succession card art
Feast of Succession is a five-mana instant-speed board wipe that destroys all creatures — full stop, no exceptions baked in — and then rewards you with clues for each opponent whose creature died. The cost is real: five mana is steep for a wipe, and sorcery-speed options exist cheaper, but the instant timing and the card advantage stapled to it push Feast of Succession well past bulk-rare territory in actual play.

Feast of Succession is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it's a Commander card through and through. In Legacy and Vintage, five mana for a wipe is simply too slow against the formats' defining threats, and the clue payoff doesn't offset that tempo loss. In Commander, Feast of Succession earns its slot by hitting at instant speed — catching combat tricks, end-step plays, and pumped boards — while generating a clue for each opponent who lost a creature, turning a reactive play into a three-card refuel in a typical four-player game. In Oathbreaker the clue generation is weaker with only one opponent, and five mana is proportionally heavier, so it lands in the maybe-pile rather than the staple list there.

Price Context

Current price

$0.17 bulk tier

At $0.17, Feast of Succession sits squarely in bulk territory, which makes it an easy pickup given the genuine power level. Bulk rares with this combination of instant speed and built-in card advantage tend to creep upward as Commander players discover them, so grabbing a copy now costs nothing meaningful.
