Faunsbane Troll card art
Faunsbane Troll threatens to eat every creature on the board — if you can keep feeding it Auras, it grows and devours opposing permanents for free. The cost is real: it does nothing without Aura support, making it a blank in any deck that doesn't commit to that axis.

Format Analysis

In Commander, Faunsbane Troll slots cleanly into Aura-centric builds where the enchantment density is already high enough to fuel consistent activations — think Siona, Captain of the Pyleas or Tiana, Ship's Caretaker shells that generate Auras as a byproduct of their game plan. Outside of those synergy homes, five mana for a conditional removal engine is too slow and too fragile for the format's removal-dense tables. In 60-card formats, Faunsbane Troll is legal in Modern, Pioneer, and Standard, but the Aura-aggro decks in those formats generally want cheaper threats that close games rather than a five-drop that trades resources. It's a Commander card wearing a Standard-legal frame.

Price Context

Current price

$0.13 bulk tier

At $0.13, Faunsbane Troll is deep bulk — easy to pick up in any trade binder or bulk bin without a second thought. Niche Aura commanders will run it, but the demand ceiling is low enough that this price is likely permanent.
