Fateful Tempest
Sorcery
Council's dilemma — Starting with you, each player votes for past or present. You mill a card for each past vote, then Fateful Tempest deals damage to each opponent equal to the total mana value of cards milled this way. Exile the top card of your library for each present vote. Until the end of your next turn, you may play the exiled cards.

Fateful Tempest makes every player who shares a hand size with you draw cards equal to that hand size — then discard their whole hand. In the right shell that's a symmetrical wipe of every opponent's hand, and in a Quintorius, History Chaser deck it doubles as a discard-pile filler that fuels exile-based recursion.

Quintorius, History Chaser
Quintorius, History Chaser cares about spells cast from exile and cards leaving graveyards, so Fateful Tempest does double duty: it strips opponents' hands while loading graveyards with the exact cards Quintorius wants to interact with later.

Fateful Tempest is a Commander card — the multiplayer math is what makes it work, since three or four players sharing your hand size turns a single six-mana sorcery into a mass discard that can gut every table simultaneously. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant; the format speed and one-on-one structure mean the effect rarely justifies six mana when dedicated discard spells exist at a fraction of the cost. Oathbreaker is the one other format where Fateful Tempest could find a niche, particularly in a wheels-and-discard shell where the planeswalker's loyalty abilities keep your hand topped off.

$0.36 bulk tier
At $0.36, Fateful Tempest sits firmly in bulk territory — easy to pick up as a throw-in or from a bulk bin. Bulk status is stable here; it's a narrow enough effect that demand won't spike unless a high-profile commander creates a dedicated discard archetype.
