Fast Forward gives a creature pseudo-vigilance for a turn — it attacks, then untaps and can block — at the cost of a single blue mana at instant speed. In decks built around Leonardo, the Balance // Michelangelo, the Heart, that untap is often a win condition in itself, not just a combat trick.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Leonardo, the Balance // Michelangelo, the Heart
Leonardo, the Balance // Michelangelo, the Heart flips when a creature you control both attacks and blocks in the same turn, and Fast Forward is one of the cleanest ways to make that happen — attack, resolve Fast Forward, untap, and the flip condition is live on the same board state.

Firkraag, Cunning Instigator
Firkraag, Cunning Instigator wants creatures to attack into opponents, and Fast Forward lets a tapped attacker untap to represent a blocker, applying political pressure while keeping your defenses intact.

Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser
Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser's goad effects force opponents' creatures to attack, and Fast Forward lets you attack freely with your own creatures then recover blockers in time for the counterswing you just engineered.

Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant
Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant rewards goading and punishing attacks, and Fast Forward turns an aggressive swing into a defensive reset — one creature does double duty in a single combat sequence.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Fast Forward is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but its home is Commander by a wide margin. In Legacy and Vintage, single-mana combat tricks exist on a much higher power axis and Fast Forward doesn't compete. In Commander, the untap effect is uniquely exploitable — it combos with tap-to-flip commanders, enables pseudo-vigilance on your best attacker, and costs almost nothing in terms of deck slots or mana. Oathbreaker can support it for the same reasons as Commander, but the smaller deck size and faster pace mean you'll want it only in dedicated untap or attack-trigger strategies.

Current price
$0.38 bulk tier
At $0.38, Fast Forward is firmly bulk — easy to acquire as a single or out of a draft chaff pile. Bulk combat tricks rarely appreciate unless they hit a combo-critical role in a popular commander, so pick it up for the decks that want it rather than in quantity.
