Farbog Boneflinger enters and immediately trades -2/-2 to a target creature — a meaningful swing that can kill utility creatures outright or soften up a blocker before combat. Five mana is the ceiling where this effect is still worth the slot, and at that cost the rate is acceptable only if you're getting extra mileage from the creature type or repeated ETB triggers.

Farbog Boneflinger is a fringe Commander card at best — the -2/-2 ETB is real removal in token-heavy metas, and Zombie tribal decks running Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver or Gisa and Geralf can abuse the body through recursion loops. In Legacy and Vintage it has no competitive application; the effect is too slow and too small for those formats. Modern has better options at every point on the curve, so Farbog Boneflinger never showed up there either. Commander remains the only format where it can carve out a niche, and even there it's a role-player for dedicated tribal or ETB-value shells rather than a general-inclusion piece.

$0.02 bulk tier
At $0.02, Farbog Boneflinger is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a dollar bin, not tracking it down. Demand is narrow enough that the price isn't going anywhere, so treat it as a free inclusion if the effect fits your shell.
