In Commander, Far // Away earns its slot specifically through fusion — bouncing a hexproof creature while making an opponent sacrifice another permanent is two-for-one interaction at instant speed, and it dodges the usual protection-keyword walls. In Modern and Pioneer, the fused version's four-mana price tag is too slow for a format that needs interaction on turns one and two, so it sees essentially no competitive play there.
