Faceless Devourer card art
Faceless Devourer exiles a Shadow creature when it enters and holds it hostage until Faceless Devourer itself leaves the battlefield — a repeatable threat and political lever stapled to a 2/1 Shadow body. The payoff is real in Shadow-tribal lists, but outside that niche it's a three-mana creature with conditional removal that gives the card back.

Commander is the only format where Faceless Devourer is worth discussing, and even there the ceiling is narrow — Shadow as a keyword appears on fewer than two dozen creatures, so the exile trigger fires inconsistently outside a dedicated tribal shell. In Legacy and Vintage the card is technically legal but competes with removal that doesn't hand the threat back when a 2/1 dies, which is often immediately. Modern sees the same problem with higher card-quality standards across the board. Faceless Devourer finds its best home helmed by a Shadow-matters commander where the exile doubles as both removal and a graveyard-denial tool against opponents running the same creatures.

Price Context

Current price

$0.19 bulk tier

At $0.19, Faceless Devourer is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and shipping, not the card. That price is stable because demand is narrow; don't expect movement unless Shadow tribal gets a prominent commander push.
