Eye of Yawgmoth turns a single sacrificed creature into a burst of card advantage — exile X cards from the top of your library equal to that creature's power, then keep one and discard the rest. The three-mana activation is steep, but in sacrifice or token shells that are already generating bodies, it converts board presence directly into gas.

Eye of Yawgmoth sees essentially all of its play in Commander, where sacrificing one big creature or a pile of tokens can refuel an entire hand in a single activation. Legacy and Vintage both allow it, but neither format rewards a three-mana, tap-and-sacrifice outlet when faster card-draw artifacts exist. Commander is the right home: multiplayer games go long enough that one well-timed activation — sac a 5-power creature, see five cards — can close the gap after a board wipe.

Price Context
Current price
$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Eye of Yawgmoth is firmly bulk — pick it up in any common/uncommon lot and you won't notice the cost. Bulk artifacts with niche-but-real Commander applications tend to stay in this range, so don't expect movement unless a high-profile sacrifice commander pushes it into mainstream lists.
