Eye for an Eye

In Commander, Eye for an Eye occupies a narrow but real role: white creature-light decks that want to punish aggressive combat or deflect a combo player's self-damage setup can get genuine mileage from it, and the instant speed means you can hold it as a combat deterrent that only costs mana when it resolves. It's weakest in a table where threats spread across multiple opponents rather than concentrating into one massive hit — killing one player with their own attack still leaves three more. In Legacy and Vintage, it's legal but essentially unplayed; two mana is too slow in formats where damage sources are fast and redundant. Commander is the only format where the card sees real consideration, and even there it's a narrow build-around rather than a staple.
