Extruder card art
Extruder turns any artifact creature sacrifice into a free +1/+1 counter on another creature — a repeatable, zero-mana activated ability that scales hard with sacrifice loops. Lonis, Genetics Expert wants the clue triggers, Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender wants the artifact deaths, and both are happy to let Extruder sit on the table doing work all game.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender

Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender

23.4% of decks · synergy 0.22

Syr Ginger, the Meal Ender grows by eating artifacts, and Extruder gives the deck a reason to run sacrifice fodder it was already running — each artifact creature that dies feeds Syr Ginger counters while Extruder spreads the leftovers to the rest of the board.

02
Jaws, Relentless Predator

Jaws, Relentless Predator

14.2% of decks · synergy 0.14

Jaws, Relentless Predator cares about having the biggest creature on the board, and Extruder stacks counters for free every time an artifact creature hits the graveyard — keeping the power ceiling high without spending additional cards.

03
Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon

Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon

11.8% of decks · synergy 0.12

Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon floods the board with artifact tokens, and Extruder converts those tokens into permanent stats when they're sacrificed or traded in combat — turning disposable tokens into lasting pressure.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict

oathbreaker

Commander is where Extruder actually gets played: the format's long games give it time to generate real value, and artifact-sacrifice synergies are dense enough that it slots cleanly into multiple archetypes. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but has never found a home — the effect is too slow and too incremental for formats that end on turn one or two. Modern follows the same logic; the card doesn't do enough fast enough to earn a slot. Extruder is a Commander card through and through, and not even a widely played one — it's a role-player in specific artifact-sacrifice builds rather than a staple.

Price Context

Current price

$0.28 bulk tier

At $0.28, Extruder is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a dollar bin or grabbing a playset for under a dollar. Bulk rares with narrow combo applications don't tend to spike unless a new commander makes the interaction go wide, so treat this as a cheap pickup for the specific deck that wants it, not a card to stock up on.
