Exponential Growth doubles a creature's power and toughness once for each mana you pour into X, turning a mid-sized threat into a lethal one-shot swing for surprisingly little investment. Rosheen, Roaring Prophet's ability to funnel four mana toward X spells makes the ceiling even higher, but the card earns its slot in any green deck that can put a large body in the red zone.

Rosheen, Roaring Prophet
Rosheen, Roaring Prophet generates four mana exclusively for X spells, which means Exponential Growth effectively costs two generic mana to quadruple a creature — the tap ability and this card are a natural engine.

Zilortha, Strength Incarnate
Zilortha, Strength Incarnate assigns combat damage based on power rather than toughness, so Exponential Growth's repeated doubling translates directly and efficiently into lethal hits that bypass blocker toughness entirely.

Mr. Orfeo, the Boulder
Mr. Orfeo, the Boulder already pumps power on attack, and Exponential Growth stacks multiplicatively on top of that base, letting a single unblocked creature reach numbers opponents cannot survive.

Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes
Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes puts a large Hamster token into play and can give it trample, making Exponential Growth a reliable one-shot kill the moment that token connects.

Ghalta, Primal Hunger
Ghalta, Primal Hunger enters as a 12/12 with trample, and even a single doubling from Exponential Growth makes it a 24/24 — enough to end the game through almost any chump-block math.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Exponential Growth is a Commander card through and through — the format's higher life totals and multiplayer politics mean that one massive creature swing can eliminate a player outright, which is exactly what this spell is designed to do. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer, opponents start at 20 life and efficient interaction is everywhere, so spending several mana to buff a single creature rarely survives the turn cycle long enough to matter. Vintage has the same problem compounded by the fastest interaction in the game. Exponential Growth is legal across those formats, but the competitive rate simply isn't there outside of Commander, where the payoff of killing a 40-life player in one swing justifies the setup cost.

Price data for Exponential Growth isn't currently available in this listing, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the most accurate buylist and retail figures. Given its narrow application in Commander specifically, it tends to stay accessible — it's not a card chased by multiple formats bidding the price up.
