Explosive Revelation
Sorcery
Choose any target. Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a nonland card. Explosive Revelation deals damage equal to that card's mana value to that permanent or player. Put the nonland card into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

Explosive Revelation digs seven cards deep and deals that many damage directly to a player or planeswalker — all for five mana at instant speed. The cost is real: you need a fat top-of-library setup or just get lucky, and whiffing on a low-CMC card feels terrible.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where Explosive Revelation has its best case, specifically in high-CMC decks that can reliably flip into a six- or seven-drop and close out a weakened opponent at instant speed. In Legacy and Vintage it's unplayable — those formats move too fast and have no patience for sorcery-speed-equivalent burst that requires setup. Modern has the card pool to abuse top-of-library manipulation, but better payoffs exist for that slot, so Explosive Revelation doesn't show up there competitively either. Treat it as a Commander-only card with a narrow niche.

Price Context
Current price
$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Explosive Revelation is deep bulk — it costs less than a sleeve. That price reflects real demand ceiling: it's a niche card that won't spike unless a top-of-library combo deck breaks into the mainstream Commander meta.
