In Commander, Exile competes in a crowded slot — white has Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, and Generous Gift all doing similar or broader work for the same or less mana. Exile earns a slot in budget lists where the premier options are out of reach, and the nonblack clause rarely matters in a four-player pod.
