Executioner's Hood grants menace for two mana to equip, which is a real evasion keyword that forces two blockers every attack — the problem is that two-mana equip cost on a one-mana artifact is a bad rate when compared to nearly every other menace enabler in the format. Run it only when you're specifically taxed on budget or need redundancy past the first few menace sources.

Executioner's Hood is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but it only meaningfully belongs in Pauper and budget Commander. In Pauper, menace on a cheap artifact is a reasonable role-player for aggressive creature decks that lack other evasion options at the common slot. In Commander, Executioner's Hood competes against a crowded field of equipment and aura-based menace grants, most of which either cost less to equip, attach for free, or staple additional keywords on top — so it gets outclassed fast outside strict budget builds. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; no competitive shell wants a two-mana equip with no additional text.

$0.16 bulk tier
At $0.16, Executioner's Hood is pure bulk — you're not buying it for value, you're buying it because you need a menace enabler and have nothing else on hand. It will not appreciate; treat it as a placeholder card you swap out the moment a better equipment becomes available.
