Eviscerate destroys any creature at sorcery speed for four mana — clean, unconditional, and slow. It gets the job done, but four mana at sorcery speed is a real cost in a format full of two- and three-mana instant-speed answers.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Eviscerate competes in a crowded field of unconditional black removal, and four mana at sorcery speed puts it near the bottom of that pile — Doom Blade, Go for the Throat, and Hero's Downfall all do more for less or at instant speed. Pauper is where Eviscerate is most at home, since the commons-only card pool thins the competition and unconditional removal at any price is worth having. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's unplayable — those formats demand instant speed and two mana or fewer. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's calculus: fine in a budget list, cut first when you upgrade.

Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Eviscerate is pure bulk — you'll find copies in any common box at your local store without a second thought. The price is stable in the way floor tiles are stable: it's not going anywhere, and there's no reason it would.
