Evershrike card art
Evershrike is a self-recurring flying beater that can reach absurd power and toughness as long as you keep feeding it Auras — the ceiling is genuinely threatening, but the engine stalls the moment the board gets wiped and your graveyard is empty. Run it in dedicated Aura strategies; everywhere else, the setup cost outweighs the payoff.

Format Analysis

oathbreaker

Commander is where Evershrike is most at home, slotting into Aura-centric voltron decks that already want a recursive threat to keep pressure on opponents through removal. In Legacy and Vintage, it competes with faster, less conditional threats and the Aura-reload condition is too slow to matter in those formats. Modern gives it the most competitive non-Commander context thanks to synergies with cheap Auras and graveyard recursion, but it still doesn't crack established archetypes. Evershrike is legal in Oathbreaker, where a spell-slinger signature spell might enable the Aura condition, though that's a narrow build.

Price Context

Current price

$1.07 cheap tier

At $1.07, Evershrike sits firmly in budget territory — easy to pick up without a second thought for any Aura deck. Demand is narrow enough that the price is unlikely to spike unless a breakout Commander list pushes it, so buy in whenever you need it and don't overthink it.
