Ethereal Guidance pumps your entire board by the number of creatures you control — in a token-heavy Commander deck, that's a lethal alpha strike for one white mana at instant speed. It's a finisher masquerading as a combat trick, and the price of admission is almost nothing.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Ethereal Guidance is a one-mana kill condition for any deck that goes wide — Krenko, Mob Boss, Rhys the Redeemed, or any token strategy that reaches a critical mass on board. Outside Commander, the effect is real but the format contexts are narrow: Pauper is the most plausible home, where token strategies exist and a one-mana instant that wins combat outright is meaningful. In Modern and Pioneer the card is legal but too conditional for competitive play, where boards rarely get wide enough to justify a spell that does nothing without creatures. Legacy and Vintage don't want it at all.

Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Ethereal Guidance is deep bulk — there is no cheaper way to add a one-mana board pump to your 99. It will stay in this price range indefinitely; mass-pump instants at common rarity don't spike.
