Errand of Duty
Instant
Create a 1/1 white Knight creature token with banding. (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding you control are blocking or being blocked by a creature, you divide that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.)

Errand of Duty puts a 1/1 Knight token with banding into play for two mana — a marginal body attached to a mechanic so rarely relevant in Commander that the card almost never earns its slot. Unless you're building specifically around banding synergies, cut it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Errand of Duty is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but serious play is essentially nonexistent across all of them. In Pauper the two-mana instant slot is brutally contested by cards that actually swing games. In Legacy and Vintage, a 1/1 for two with banding doesn't clear any bar worth clearing. Commander is the only format where a banding-tribal or obscure-keyword theme could justify it, and even there the deck has to be built deliberately around the mechanic — banding does nothing in most combat scenarios without multiple banding creatures working in concert.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Errand of Duty is deep bulk — you're paying almost nothing, and that price accurately reflects demand. It won't appreciate unless banding experiences a sudden, unlikely Commander renaissance.
