Eriette's Tempting Apple

Eriette's Tempting Apple is a Commander card through and through — the political dimension of gifting a 3/3 means nothing in a 1v1 context, and competitive 60-card formats have zero interest in a three-mana sorcery that conditionally kills one player at the next end step. In Standard and Pioneer it's legal but unplayed; the conditional timing and opponent agency make it unfit for formats where games end before the table dynamics that make the Apple interesting even exist. Commander is where it finds a home, specifically in decks that either care about artifact synergies or are playing a slower, threat-gifting control game where the Apple's card draw and instant-win rider are legitimate tools.
