Erebos's Emissary card art
Erebos's Emissary lands as a 3/3 snake with bestow that pumps a creature +3/+3 and strips a card from an opponent's hand — relevant disruption stapled to a body. The cost is steep at five mana to cast or eight to bestow, and that pricing keeps it out of competitive lists.

Erebos's Emissary is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees meaningful play in essentially none of them outside Commander. In competitive formats like Modern and Legacy, five mana for a 3/3 with a hand-strip trigger is far too slow when faster discard and threat packages exist at half the cost. Commander is where Erebos's Emissary finds its niche — specifically in snake tribal, black devotion, or Theros-flavored builds where the bestow mechanic doubles as insurance against removal and the hand disruption has time to matter. Even in Commander it's a role-player, not a staple.

Price Context

Current price

$0.13 bulk tier

At $0.13, Erebos's Emissary is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a commons box rather than buy singles. That price is stable because demand is narrow and supply from reprints and draft chaff is plentiful, so there's no meaningful floor risk or upside to track.
