Erebor Flamesmith card art
Erebor Flamesmith turns every noncombat damage source into a board-clearing or face-burning engine — each time a source deals 1 damage, it deals 1 more to any target, stacking fast. Pair it with Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might and those 1-damage pings become minimum-5-damage hits, and a handful of cantrip spells can end the game on the spot.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01

Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might

59.9% of decks · synergy 0.55

Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might sets a damage floor so high that Erebor Flamesmith's triggered 1-damage rider becomes a 5-damage rider, meaning a single pinged creature or player turns into a 10-damage event before any other pieces enter the picture.

02
Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph

Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph

59.5% of decks · synergy 0.52

Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph already triggers off sources that deal exactly 1 damage, so Erebor Flamesmith effectively doubles every one of those triggers — each 1-damage hit becomes two separate 1-damage events, both of which Ghyrson sees.

03
Tor Wauki the Younger

Tor Wauki the Younger

36.9% of decks · synergy 0.35

Tor Wauki the Younger pings for 2 whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, and Erebor Flamesmith converts the 1-damage portion of that sequence into an additional free shot, turning spell-slinging into a constant stream of free damage.

04
Taii Wakeen, Perfect Shot

Taii Wakeen, Perfect Shot

31.8% of decks · synergy 0.30

Taii Wakeen, Perfect Shot rewards exactly-1-damage events with card draw, and Erebor Flamesmith manufactures a fresh 1-damage trigger on top of whatever already dealt 1 — effectively doubling Taii's draw triggers when both are in play.

05

Urabrask

34.6% of decks · synergy 0.29

Urabrask taxes opponents with a damage-dealing effect each upkeep and cares about spells and sources connecting, making Erebor Flamesmith a natural fit that squeezes extra reach out of every incidental ping the deck generates.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander
legacy
modern
pioneer
standard
vintage
pauper
oathbreaker

Commander is where Erebor Flamesmith lives — the sheer number of 1-damage sources in red (pingers, cantrip spells, shock-style removal) makes the trigger fire constantly, and the multiplayer table means all that bonus damage can be redirected wherever it hurts most. In Pauper the card is legal and theoretically functional, but a two-mana 1/3 that needs a critical mass of 1-damage sources is too slow and too dependent on setup to compete with the format's efficient aggro and control shells. Legacy and Vintage have the raw card power to exploit it, but those formats move too fast for a two-drop that requires board infrastructure to generate value. Erebor Flamesmith is a Commander card through and through — the longer games, the redundant ping synergies, and the permissive deckbuilding space are exactly what it needs to be broken.

Price Context

Current price

$0.35 bulk tier

At $0.35, Erebor Flamesmith is deep bulk, which makes it an easy include — the financial floor is as low as it gets for a mythic-feeling effect. Given its 60%+ inclusion rate in the most popular decks that want it, the price reflects supply more than demand ceiling, so grab copies now while it's still an afterthought at the register.
