Entreat the Dead reanimates your entire graveyard at instant speed when miracled — Scholar of the Ages and every other high-value creature back at once is a board state most tables can't recover from. The ceiling is absurd, but you need both a stocked graveyard and a lucky top-deck or setup through Aminatou, the Fateshifter to hit the miracle cost reliably.

Aminatou, the Fateshifter
Aminatou, the Fateshifter's +1 lets you top-deck manipulation on demand, turning Entreat the Dead's miracle cost from a lottery into a repeatable line — cast Aminatou, stack your library, then miracle out a graveyard's worth of creatures on your opponent's end step.
Format Analysis

Commander is where Entreat the Dead belongs — 100-card singleton means your graveyard fills naturally, and the payoff scales with the power of what's already died. Legacy and Vintage are legal but realistic homes only in dedicated reanimator shells, where cheaper and more consistent options usually win the slot. The miracle mechanic rewards library manipulation universally, so any format that supports it rewards the same setup work, but outside Commander the card is too slow and conditional to see serious play.
