In Commander, Embersmith earns a slot in artifact-heavy builds where you're casting multiple artifacts per turn cycle — Breya, Etherium Shaper and Alibou, Ancient Witness shells can ping down utility creatures or apply incidental pressure to planeswalkers without spending dedicated removal. In Legacy and Vintage, it's too slow and too fragile to compete; those formats have better engines for artifact synergy.
