Embermage Goblin pings any target for 1 damage whenever another Goblin enters the battlefield under your control — effectively a damage trigger stapled to every Goblin you play. The cost is a four-mana 1/1 body that does nothing on its own, so it earns its slot only in dedicated Goblin token shells where the ping count runs high enough to matter.

In Commander, Embermage Goblin is a niche role-player in Goblin tribal decks — Krenko, Mob Boss turning a single activation into ten or twenty pings makes it a legitimate damage engine, but it competes for slots with more immediately impactful tribal pieces. Legacy and Vintage are both legal but inhospitable; competitive Goblin lists in those formats want every card to do something the turn it's played, and a 1/1 that requires a board state to generate value doesn't make the cut.
