Eclipsed Merrow
Creature — Merfolk Scout
When this creature enters, look at the top four cards of your library. You may reveal a Merfolk, Plains, or Island card from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Eclipsed Merrow enters as a 2/1 unblockable Merfolk and immediately taps or untaps any target creature — relevant the turn it lands, before opponents can react. The cost is that the effect is a one-shot on entry; there's no built-in way to repeat it without bouncing or blinking.

In Commander, Eclipsed Merrow is a Merfolk-tribal piece first — the unblockable body feeds Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca activations and Merfolk headcounts, while the ETB tap keeps a blocker off the table for a key attack. Outside of tribal, it's too thin to justify a slot: a 2/1 for two mana with a one-shot tap isn't pulling weight in non-Merfolk shells. In competitive constructed formats — Modern and Pioneer — it competes against Merfolk options with better sustained pressure, so it rarely sees play beyond budget lists. Standard legality doesn't change that calculus much; the card is fine in limited but unremarkable in constructed queues. Legacy and Vintage have no reason to look at Eclipsed Merrow at all.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Eclipsed Merrow is pure bulk — it costs less than postage, so there's no reason to hesitate on picking up copies for a Merfolk build. Price stability here is a non-issue; this is the kind of card that stays in the $0.10–$0.25 band indefinitely unless a future Merfolk commander makes it unexpectedly pivotal.
