Duskmantle Operative blanks your opponents' graveyard-based abilities entirely as long as it's in play — a taxing, repeatable effect stapled to a two-mana body. The cost is that a 2/2 with no evasion dies to a stiff breeze, so the effect only matters when the table can't easily answer it.

In Commander, Duskmantle Operative fills a niche slot against graveyard-heavy pods — Muldrotha, the Gravetide and Karador, Ghost Chieftain decks hate seeing it land on turn two. It's too fragile to be a reliable answer in a four-player game where one opponent can chump-block it off the board, so most Commander builds prefer enchantments like Rest in Peace that don't die to a 1/1. In Pauper, the two-mana graveyard hate slot is contested, but Duskmantle Operative is legal and can show up in aggressive shells that want a proactive body alongside disruption. Legacy and Vintage have faster, more resilient hate options, so it doesn't see play there. Modern and Pioneer have the same problem — Grafdigger's Cage and Soul-Guide Lantern do the job without needing to survive combat.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Duskmantle Operative is pure bulk — the price reflects exactly how narrow and replaceable it is. It holds no meaningful value trajectory, so pick it up for a few cents if the effect fits your build and don't think twice about it.
