Druid of the Spade

In Commander, Druid of the Spade earns its slot only in Food-matters or token-density decks — it's not generically powerful enough to compete with dedicated ramp or draw pieces outside that lane. In competitive non-rotating formats like Legacy and Modern, it doesn't register; the bar for a three-mana 2/2 with a Food rider is too low when faster options exist. Standard and Pioneer are where it has the most legitimate claim, slotting into Halfling tribal or Food-synergy builds that want redundant, on-theme bodies. Pauper could theoretically support it in a grindy Food shell, though the format's efficient commons usually outclass it.
