Drifting Shade is a mediocre evasive beater — a 1/1 flyer that pumps itself for one black mana, gated entirely behind swamp count. The payoff exists, but the floor is too low and the ceiling too slow for most decks to care.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

| pioneer | not legal |

| vintage | legal |

Drifting Shade is a bulk common that sees essentially no competitive play anywhere. In Pauper, the swamp-count ceiling is theoretically reachable in mono-black, but the format has better evasive threats at the same cost. In Commander, mono-black decks running Cabal Stronghold or Crypt Ghast can fuel the pump repeatedly, but a 1/1 base body is embarrassing at the table. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters — Drifting Shade competes with nothing worth competing with.

Price Context
Current price
$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Drifting Shade is deep bulk — you'll find it in a commons box, not on a buylist. There is no meaningful price floor to speak of, and nothing in its design suggests that changes.
