Drifter il-Dal is a 3/1 flier for one blue mana — the rate is real — but it phases out at the end of your turn unless you pay an additional blue each upkeep, turning a cheap threat into an ongoing tax. Drifter il-Dal sees essentially zero competitive play across every format it's legal in. In Legacy and Vintage, a 3/1 flier that demands mana every turn can't compete with threats that close games outright. In Pauper, blue aggro has access to more reliable bodies that don't disappear when you tap out. Commander is the one context where it could theoretically fit a flicker or phase-matters shell, but the mandatory upkeep cost punishes the slow, multi-player pace of the format more than anywhere else.
