Dreamstealer hits for menace on turn three and, if it connects, rips cards from an opponent's hand — then eternalize it later for a 4/4 that strips their hand entirely. The cost is that it needs to connect twice across two different castings to do its best work, which makes it a grind piece rather than a threat.

In Commander, Dreamstealer is a niche 99 card for dedicated discard builds — the Eternalize trigger strips one opponent's hand, which matters less at a four-player table than in a duel. Legacy, Vintage, and Modern have no interest in a three-mana 1/2 that requires combat damage to generate value, when faster and more reliable discard exists at every price point. Pioneer is the most plausible competitive home, but even there the card never established a foothold. Dreamstealer is a Commander-only consideration, and only in decks that specifically reward opponents discarding.

Price Context
Current price
$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Dreamstealer is deep bulk — pick it up freely for any discard-matters Commander build without a second thought. The price reflects its narrow playability and is unlikely to move unless a high-profile discard commander drives fresh demand.
