Dragon's Prey puts a 2/2 Dragon token into play immediately — that's a body on the battlefield before anything else matters. The real cost is the 1/1 Kobold it hands your opponent, and in Commander that tax is close to irrelevant against three other players who aren't getting the Kobold.

Dragon's Prey is a Commander card through and through. Token-count synergies, dragon tribal payoffs, and sacrifice fodder all make the Kobold downside functionally invisible when spread across a four-player table. In competitive 1v1 formats like Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer, gifting an opponent any free body is a real liability — tempo is too tight and that 1/1 will block, trade, or enable something you don't want. Pauper is where Dragon's Prey has the most marginal case outside Commander, but even there two mana for a 2/2 is below rate without tribal support.

$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Dragon's Prey is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and shipping, not the card. Bulk rares rarely climb without a tournament breakout, and this one has no competitive home to drive demand.
