Downsize turns any creature into a 0/1 until end of turn for a single blue mana — at instant speed, that's a combat trick, a blocker killer, or a way to push damage through a wall. Downsize is a fringe card in almost every format it's legal in. In Commander, it occasionally shows up in Voltron or combat-focused blue decks that need cheap, instant-speed ways to neutralize a blocker without spending removal on it — but most lists prefer effects with broader applications. In Pauper, where tempo and combat tricks matter more and the card pool is constrained, Downsize has the most legitimate claim to a slot, particularly in aggressive blue or blue-red decks looking to force through early damage. Legacy, Vintage, Modern, and Pioneer all have access to strictly more powerful options, so Downsize doesn't register competitively there.
