Don't Make a Sound

In Commander, Don't Make a Sound is a reactive combat trick that punishes opponents who lean on spot removal — flash lets you pass with open mana and only commit when a removal spell hits the stack. Its ceiling is highest in token and go-wide strategies where a single Swords to Plowshares or Doom Blade could set back a board state by half its value. In 1v1 formats like Modern and Pioneer, the effect is narrower because you're protecting fewer creatures against a more targeted threat, and most competitive shells prefer permanent hexproof or counterspells over a one-shot effect. Pauper is the one non-Commander format where Don't Make a Sound has a real argument — creature-heavy decks playing through interaction can use it as a cheap defensive burst. Legacy and Vintage simply have better options at every price point.
