Djinn of the Fountain is a bulk rare that asks too much for too little — a six-mana 4/4 flier whose payoff depends on you casting instants and sorceries just to blank one opposing trigger per turn. The effect is narrow, the body is undersized for the cost, and competitive blue shells have no reason to run it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Djinn of the Fountain is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but that legal status is largely academic. In Commander, spell-slinger decks that want this effect have cleaner options at lower mana values, and six mana for a 4/4 with conditional trigger-hate doesn't move the needle. In Legacy and Vintage, the card isn't close to playable — those formats punish inefficiency at every point on the curve. Modern and Pioneer are similarly uninterested; triggered-ability hate exists at a much lower cost elsewhere. Oathbreaker is the one fringe context where a spell-heavy deck might squeeze value out of it, but even there it's a stretch.

$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Djinn of the Fountain is deep bulk — the kind of card that ends up in bulk boxes at every game store. Don't expect that price to move; there's no competitive demand driving it, and casual interest is thin.
