Disintegrate deals X damage to any target. If it's a creature, it can't be regenerated this turn, and if it would die this turn, exile it instead.

Disintegrate deals X damage to a target and exiles it if that damage kills it — the exile clause is the whole reason to run it over a generic burn spell. Solid mana sink, clean answer to recursive threats, but narrow enough that most Commander decks will find better options.
Format Analysis

In Commander, Disintegrate fills a specific niche: X-spell removal that permanently answers creatures with graveyard recursion, which matters in a format full of Reanimate effects and persist/undying triggers. Outside that context, it competes poorly with removal that doesn't require mana investment to scale. In Pauper it's legal but rarely sees play — common direct damage has better options at fixed costs. Legacy and Vintage are too fast for a sorcery-speed X-spell to matter. Disintegrate is a Commander card first and a curiosity everywhere else.

Price Context
Current price
$0.86 bulk tier
At $0.86, Disintegrate sits at the high end of bulk — functional but not a chased card. Given that it's a narrow role-player with several printings, this price is unlikely to climb without a major reprint pushing it to true bulk territory.
